ILLINOIS:- Top Pakistani-American political organizations are backing Bushra Amiwala for Congress. The Pakistani-American Public Affairs Committee and the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee have both endorsed Amiwala in the March 2026 primary.
“Pakistan is the fifth most populous country in the world, yet we’ve never had a Pakistani American in Congress. It’s time for that to change,” said Amiwala, an elected Skokie School District 73.5 board member. “I’m proud to have earned the support of these prolific organizations. I will continue working alongside them to advance Pakistani-American representation. I join them in standing against bigotry and hate.”
The Pakistani-American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC) empowers the Pakistani-American community through political advocacy, civic engagement and strategic partnerships across the United States. PAKPAC National Board released the following statement:

This summer she announced her campaign for US Congress and quickly became a frontrunner in a crowded and highly competitive field. Bushra is a proud Pakistani-American and personifies the best aspects of our community. She is the best chance that we’ve ever had at electing the first Pakistani-American to Congress.”
The American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC) believes in supporting candidates who are clear in their commitment to full civic and human rights for all.
