Bird flu detected in Bhaktapur, 48,000 chickens destroyed

BHAKTAPUR:- Bird flu has been confirmed in the district; chickens have been culled following the confirmation of the disease at poultry farms in Changunarayan and Suryabinayak municipalities.

Dr. Amik Shrestha, a veterinarian at the Veterinary Service Office, stated that 38,795 chickens raised in Changunarayan Wards 2, 8, and 9 have been culled so far due to the outbreak.

He informed that 9,378 chickens have been culled in Suryabinayak 1, 4 and 8 due to bird flu.

Informing that 48,173 chickens have been culled in the district, he said that chickens from farms where bird flu was confirmed to have spread to poultry farms were culled.
