KATHMANDU:- Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that a deliberate attempt is being made to smear the government as the investigation into the biggest financial crime in history progresses.
Speaking to the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, he said that those involved in the case will soon face justice. He urged people to be vigilant, saying that groups involved in activities to distort the country’s politics and political parties may still be active.
According to Finance Minister Wagle, there is currently an attempt to weaken the government by highlighting only a few issues. He alleges that there is an attempt to smear the government, which has come with the slogan of good governance, by making baseless allegations.
Finance Minister Wagle claimed that the allegations made about tax rates were made without any solid basis and said that they are of a nature to be fragmented at the initial stage. He stated that the government is moving forward firmly to maintain good governance and clarified that there is no weakness in its intentions.
In the meeting, Finance Minister Wagle said, “The investigation into the biggest financial crime in Nepal’s history is currently underway. Those involved in it, who have taken the country into their hands and distorted the entire politics and political parties, will soon be brought to justice.”
It is necessary to pay attention to whether the groups they have protected and are sheltering under their protection are involved in this. Why is only one issue being raised repeatedly? Many say that the government and the Finance Minister, who have brought a good budget, have been accused without any basis and evidence.”
He urged the honorable members to be aware, stating that an attempt has been made to smear the government, which is moving forward firmly with the slogan of good governance. He expressed suspicion that such attacks are being carried out with the aim of tarnishing and weakening the image of the government. He added, “I am sure that no mistake has been made, the intention is completely right. The allegations made are prima facie debunked.”
