All 14 trekkers missing from Sarebung Pass come into contact

MUSTANG:- A Total of 14 trekkers heading to Sarebung Pass from Yara via Damodarkunda have come in contact with the District Administration Office, Mustang, this evening.

All of them are safe, the authority said. Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal informed that 14 trekkers, including three Austrian nationals, had come into contact and were out of risk. They had left Kathmandu two weeks back for Phu village of Manang via Sarebung.

The Himalayan Adventure Travels facilitated the trek. They had gone out of contact since last Tuesday, according to the Himalayan Adventure. Manager at the company, Dipak Mainali, shared that one of the hikers contacted them via phone on Friday morning. Although they contacted us, it was not a clear conversation, he added.

The Sarebung Pass is located at an altitude of 6,000 metres. The adverse weather triggered by heavy snowfall made them go out of contact. Chief District Officer Bhusal informed that the travellers had gone missing for three days due to a blizzard, but they were safe at a dharmashala (religious shelter) in Damodarkunda.

They had safely arrived at Yara village. As the shelter had all basic facilities, they were able to sustain safely, CDO Bhusal added.
