ACC Premier Cup: Nepal’s first match against Bahrain
KATHMANDU:- The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has revised the match schedule for the ACC Premier Cup, which is set to be held in Malaysia from August 30 to September 12. The ACC has made some changes to the schedule that was previously announced.
Ten teams will participate in this tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the Asia Cup. The participating teams have been divided into two groups. Nepal has been placed in a group alongside Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Bahrain, and Hong Kong.
The other group comprises the UAE, Oman, Singapore, Kuwait, and Qatar. Nepal will play its first match against Bahrain on August 31. Subsequently, Nepal will face Malaysia on September 3, Saudi Arabia on September 6, and Hong Kong on September 8.
The top two teams from the group will advance to the semi-finals. Although it was previously stated that the top three teams would qualify for the 2027 ODI Asia Cup in Bangladesh, the ACC has now announced that only the top team will secure a spot in the tournament.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced a 14-member Nepali squad for this tournament on Monday, under the captaincy of Sandeep Lamichhane.
The squad includes Aasif Sheikh, Arjun Kumal, Rohit Paudel, Dev Khanal, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sandeep Jora, Bashir Ahmed, Ishan Pandey, Gulshan Jha, Sher Malla, Lalit Rajbanshi, Karan KC, and Hemant Dhami.
