RSP forms central candidate selection committee for upcoming local elections

KATHMANDU:- A meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Central Committee held today has formed a central candidate selection committee for the upcoming local elections.

The meeting, presided over by RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane at the party’s central office in Banasthali, Kathmandu, formed the committee under the coordination of General Secretary Bipin Acharya.

RSP Spokesperson Jagadish Kharel announced that the Central Committee meeting has nominated Milan Limbu, Rahbar Ansari, Toshima Karki, Kabindra Burlakoti, Sushant Baidik, Tashi Lhajom, and Janak Singh Dhami as members of the Central Candidate Selection Committee. It was stated that the chairpersons of the party’s seven provinces would serve as ex-officio members of this committee.

The meeting has also appointed heads and deputy heads for various central departments. Responsibilities as department heads have been assigned to Manish Jha (Overseas Liaison Department), Dr. Manohar Pradhan (Financial Management Department), Mohanlal Acharya (Legal Affairs and Institutional Compliance Department), Rubina Acharya (Social Justice, Gender Equality, and Inclusion Department), and Sudip Dhakal (Good Governance and State Affairs Department).

Similarly, Sulabh Kharel has been nominated as the head of the Legislation, Parliamentary Affairs, and Justice System Department; Gyanendra Mahata for the Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives Department; Deepak Kumar Sah (Mahottari) for the Labor, Employment, and Social Security Department; Sharmila Khanal for the Supply, Market Governance, and Consumer Rights Department; and Ananda Bahadur Chand for the Science, Information Technology, Innovation, and Startups Department.

Dr. Dhananjay Regmi has been nominated as the Head and Samrat Budhathoki as a member of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and National Heritage.

Similarly, Dharma KC has been nominated as the Head of the Department of Environment, Climate, and Natural Resources, and Rima Bishwakarma as the Head of the Department of Social Justice and Promotion of Equity.

Ananda Mishra has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of the Campaign and Publicity Department, and Dillishwor Karki (Rohan) as the Deputy Chief of the Finance Department. The meeting also decided to launch the ‘Hami Aaudai Chhau’ (We Are Coming) campaign under the leadership of the Central Committee and House of Representatives members.

From October 6 to 13, central committee members and lawmakers will visit all 753 local government units across the 77 districts to hold discussions and gather suggestions from the public, the party, and stakeholders. The meeting has directed all central committee members and lawmakers to mobilize for this initiative without fail.

Similarly, a task force led by Joint General Secretary Hari Dhakal has submitted a detailed report to Party President Rabi Lamichhane at the Central Committee meeting regarding the organizational issues and their solutions within the RSP’s Madhesh Province chapter. The meeting indicated that the party would take appropriate steps after reviewing the report.

Recognizing the need to relocate the party’s central office, the meeting decided to request party members and well-wishers to search for suitable land and a building within the Kathmandu Valley for this purpose.

The meeting also extended best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of the upcoming major festivals: Bijaya Dashami, Deepawali, the Nepal Sambat New Year, and Chhath.
