Leaders and cadres close to Shekhar Koirala to participate in Deuba group’s convention
KATHMANDU:- Leaders and cadres close to Dr. Shekhar Koirala—who has been leading a distinct faction within the Nepali Congress—are set to participate in the convention being organized by the faction led by former President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Although Koirala himself intends to remain neutral regarding the convention process, those close to him are preparing to participate based on their individual decisions.
Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya, Koirala’s personal secretary, has informed that leaders and cadres close to Koirala will participate in the ward conventions starting Thursday.
According to him, during the previous convention as well, some leaders and cadres had participated based on their individual judgment rather than a collective group decision. He stated that some leaders and cadres would participate in the convention process on the same basis this time as well.
Meanwhile, the Central Election Committee formed by the Deuba faction has issued the necessary directives to the district election committees to conduct the ward conventions.
According to Ekraj Pokhrel, Coordinator of the Central Election Committee, the district election committees have been instructed to complete the ward conventions between Thursday and Saturday.
