US Visa suspension for relatives involved in cross-border kidnapping cases by guardians

WASHINGTON:- The Trump administration has stated that it has prioritized the safety of American children abducted across international borders and their reunification with their parents.

The administration has alleged that foreign government officials, judges, judicial administrators, law enforcement officers, and other individuals have deliberately obstructed the swift resolution of such cases, thereby hindering the children’s return to the United States.

Announcing a new policy today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it would deny visas to individuals—and their immediate family members—who are responsible for or involved in actions that hinder the swift resolution of cases of international parental child abduction.
The Trump administration claims that the new policy announced by the State Department today provides a new mechanism to ensure accountability, thereby pressuring relevant countries to fulfill their obligations.
The new policy announced today also covers individuals who willfully fail to implement or comply with the laws, policies, or court orders necessary to resolve such cases and return children to their country of habitual residence.
