Shesh Ghale announces Rs. 570 million assistance for Bhotekoshi flood victims

KATHMANDU:- Shesh Ghale, former President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has announced long-term support for the education and basic needs of children affected by the Bhote Koshi floods.

Through social media, Ghale stated that both he and his wife were deeply moved by the plight of the children and their families affected by the Bhote Koshi floods.

According to Ghale, the MIT Group Foundation has committed a long-term project budget of up to NPR 578.5 million—through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Child Rights Council (NCRC)—to support eligible flood-affected children under the age of 18 up to Grade 12.

Ghale stated that this assistance covers essential needs—such as education, food, shelter, clothing, and medical care—tailored to the children’s specific circumstances.

Noting that the challenges faced by the affected children would not simply vanish once the floodwaters receded, Ghale pointed out that the impact on their lives could persist for a long time. Therefore, he explained, the aim is to provide not only immediate relief but also support to ensure their education and future opportunities in the years ahead.

He stated that this initiative is not limited to financial assistance but represents a long-term commitment to ensuring that the difficult experiences of the affected children do not determine their future opportunities.

“We want them to feel that they have not been forgotten,” Ghale noted on his social media.
