Shooting at West Indian American Carnival Parade: Three Injured, One Suspect Arrested
NEW YORK:-Three people were injured in a shooting incident near the massive ‘West Indian American Carnival Parade’ held on Brooklyn’s ‘Eastern Parkway’ on Labor Day. According to the New York Police, the tragic shooting on Monday disrupted the celebration of Caribbean culture.
Amidst tight police security, the New York City Police Department reported that a man was shot at ‘St. Johns Place’ in ‘Crown Heights’ at 5:30 PM, and a suspect was arrested in connection with the incident.
In a separate incident, the NYPD reported that a woman and a 19-year-old man were shot in the area of Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue.
According to the police, the suspects fled the scene after the incident. The victims are expected to survive.
Earlier, police had reported that five people were stabbed near the parade route prior to the start of the parade.
These violent incidents occurred while thousands of participants—including individuals dressed in various costumes—and hundreds of thousands of spectators had gathered on Eastern Parkway for the 59th annual West Indian American Day Carnival Parade.
