Landslide, flooding obstruct several roads

KATHMANDU:- Roads in various parts of the country have been obstructed following incessant rain, while vehicular operation has been restricted on some sections during night.

According to the report issued by the Police Headquarters as of 5:00 am Saturday, roads have been affected in Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Rukum West, Lamjung, Ilam, Nuwakot, Rolpa, Palpa, and Makawanpur.

In view of potential risk of flooding, all vehicular operations have been prohibited from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am on the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunje Besi road in Kavrepalanchok. Road traffic is allowed from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.

On the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur, all vehicles are also restricted from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am due to the rain.

Likewise, movement of all public and private vehicles except for essential services has been banned from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am on the Tokha–Chhahare road section in Nuwakot. As stated, no vehicles are allowed on this road until further notice.

The Mechi Highway is completely blocked in Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality–9 due to mud accumulation. It is reported that there is an alternative route at the location.

On the Araniko Highway in Kodari, Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality–2, Sindhupalchok, the road has been fully blocked after a landslide in Iku and road collapse in Lipping.

The Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubeshi road section in Khalte, Uttargaya Rural Municipality–5, Rasuwa, is also completely blocked with the erosion of road by the Trishuli River.

In addition, after a landslide in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality–2 on Thursday afternoon, the Pasang Lhamu road is completely blocked.

In Rukum West, the Jajarkot–Dolpa road along the Bheri Corridor at Rije Guard Khola, Aathbiskot Municipality–6, is fully blocked due to a landslide.

On the Besisahar–Manang road in Lamjung, the road is completely blocked in Rambazar, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality–4, following a landslide.

Similarly, two major roads in Rolpa and Palpa are completely blocked. The Ghorahi–Thawang–Rukum Shahid Path is fully blocked in Jhakali, Madi Rural Municipality–6, Rolpa after a landslide.

In Palpa’s Tinau Rural Municipality–3, near the entry point to Palpa from Siddhababa Tunnel Road, a landslide occurred about 100 meters to the north, completely blocking the Siddhartha Highway. The landslide occurred this morning.

As the roads blocked areas still pose a risk of landslides and floods, the police headquarters have urged people to travel cautiously after assessing the situation and use alternative routes if necessary.
