Writ filed in Supreme Court demanding to stop NCs’ 15th General Convention

KATHMANDU:- A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court seeking an order to halt the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention.

The petition was filed today through a representative on behalf of former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, requesting an order to stop the 15th General Convention scheduled for the upcoming month of Ashwin, (October).

Nepali Congress Election Committee has announced the schedule for the 15th General Convention, to be held in Kathmandu from Asoj 16 to 19. A writ petition has been filed seeking to halt this decision. The Deuba faction has secured leave from the Supreme Court for a rehearing regarding the dispute over the party’s official legitimacy.

The writ petition seeks to halt the general convention process until the case currently undergoing a rehearing at the Supreme Court is resolved.
