CIAA files case against 11 people, including former President of Community Forest Users Group
KATHMANDU:- A corruption case has been filed against 11 individuals, including Khim Bahadur Sabdas, the former chairperson of the Malika Community Forest Users Group in Ward No. 1 of Chaukune Rural Municipality, Surkhet.
According to Suresh Neupane, spokesperson for the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the case alleges that office-bearers of the forest users group committed corruption by misappropriating committee funds between the fiscal years 2072/73 and 2076/77; they reportedly prepared—or caused to be prepared—false records claiming expenses for activities that were never actually carried out.
A corruption case involving NPR 1,643,586 has been filed against the former chairperson of the consumer group, Sabad, along with Secretary Banauli Rokaya and Treasurer Jaman Singh.
Similarly, a corruption case involving NPR 2,268,974 has been filed against former chairperson Padam Singh Sabad, Secretary Purna Devi Dhami, and Treasurer Rudra Bahadur Bantola.
According to the Commission, a corruption case involving NPR 390,000 has been filed against former chairperson Harka Bahadur Budha, Secretary Tulsi Dani, and Treasurer Chakra Bahadur Sabad.
A statement issued by the Commission mentions that corruption cases have been filed against Dilli Ram, a registered auditor at Pathak & Associates, and Prem Bahadur BC, a registered auditor at Prem Bahadur BC & Co.
The Commission stated that a charge-sheet was filed against them at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Monday, seeking punishment under Section 17 and Section 19 (Sub-section 1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
