Bagmati river crosses alert level in Gaurighat area

KATHMANDU:- The Bagmati river has crossed the alert level in the Gaurighat Water Level Measurement Centre in Kathmandu, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

The Department has urged the residents on the riverbank and in inundation-prone areas to remain on high alert until Monday morning, as the water level has crossed the alert level.

According to the Department, the water level in the Bagmati River in the Gaurighat area has reached 2.41 metres, as the water level above 2.1 metres is considered the alert level.

The Department has asked the residents to adopt special precautions as the river flow is still on the rise. It has also urged the people to avoid non-essential travel and also to shift to a safe zone if needed.
