Courier Service extended to 60 Districts thru Post Office

KATHMANDU:- The government has expanded its Courier Service to 60 districts, aiming to enhance public service delivery directly to citizens’ homes.

The Department of Postal Services is focused on digitizing and streamlining the process for delivering essential documents such as passports, driving licenses, and academic certificates. Department’s Director General Manamaya Bhattarai Pangeni noted that initial challenges from some districts have been overcome, leading to effective operation of the service in most areas.

Since the programme’s inception, 28,169 passports have been transported, with 1,635 delivered directly to beneficiaries. The process has been facilitated by collecting recipients’ addresses during passport applications at district administration offices.

Additionally, the postal service has sent 470,881 driving licenses to transport offices, with 671 delivered to homes by May 22.

The initiative also extends beyond government documents, as the postal department collaborates with the education and health sectors, distributing 260 educational certificates and transporting 488 laboratory samples in partnership with the National Public Health Laboratory from Surkhet, Banke, and Kathmandu.(RSS)
