2570th Buddha Jayanti celebrated in Portugal

LISBON:- The 2570th birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha, the forerunner of world peace, is being celebrated in the European country of Portugal.

The Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with a special program in the capital Lisbon on Friday, organized by the Nepal Indigenous Peoples Federation, Portugal.

At the event held at the Jinasio Club Hall in Anjos, Lisbon, Buddhist gurus performed special worship of the Buddha and the participants meditated collectively. Similarly, Buddhist guru Furi Sherpa gave a sermon on Buddha and his knowledge, philosophy, and teachings.

Expressing best wishes on the occasion, Nepali Ambassador to Portugal Prakash Mani Poudel said that the knowledge and teachings of Buddha are invaluable for humanity. He emphasized that the inspiring teachings and guidance of Buddha should be followed in practical life and embark on the path of good deeds.

Federation President Chop Kumar Rana Magar said that Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with a special program with the aim of spreading the Buddha’s messages of peace, compassion and friendship, wishing for world peace, and promoting Buddha. He also expressed his gratitude to all the generous supporters who helped make Buddha Jayanti a success.
