Lama and Thakur register candidacies for Deputy Speaker

KATHMANDU:- Saraswoti Lama from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rubi Kumari Thakur from the Shram Sanskriti Party have filed their candidacies for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR). 

Lama’s candidacy has been proposed by Gyan Bahadur Shahi and seconded by Tahir Ali Bhat, Khusbu Oli and Bharat Giri. Likewise, Thakur’s candidacy has been proposed by Aren Rai and seconded by Ashok Kumar Chaudhary and Ambika Devi Sangraula.

According to the Secretariat’s schedule, time from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today was set for the submission of notice proposing any member be elected as Deputy Speaker, in accordance with Rule 8 (2) of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079.

The notice regarding registration of nominations was scheduled to be published at 2:30 pm. The proposers of the candidates will present the proposal and the supporters will endorse it, and the notice of candidacies will be discussed at the meeting of the House at 4:00 pm on April 10 for decision-making.

It is enshrined in the Constitution that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House shall be represented by different political parties and genders.(RSS)
