Nepal government decides to give weekly holiday on Saturday and Sunday

KATHMANDU:- The government has decided to grant public holidays to government employees on Saturday and Sunday, effective from April 6.

A cabinet meeting held today took this decision. According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, this decision would be implemented in all government offices and educational institutions from Monday (tomorrow).

Similarly, the meeting accepted the concessional loan of 90 million US dollars provided by the Asian Development Bank and World Bank for the ‘Digital Nepal Transformation’ project. Education Minister and Spokesperson of the government, Sasmit Pokharel, said the government also accepted the concessional loan of 95 million US dollars provided by the World Bank for the Sustainable and Inclusive Finance Project.

Likewise, permission was granted to conduct an organisation and management (O&M) survey of all ministries, secretariats, and commissions, and their subordinate bodies.

The Cabinet meeting also approved the resignation tendered by Executive Chairperson of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, as well as decided to make arrangements to convert diesel and petrol vehicles to electric vehicles.

Similarly, the government took the decision to run the coming academic session from Baishakh 15.
