Election Atmosphere Peaceful, Voters Enthusiastic: GEOC

KATHMANDU:- The General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) has stated that the overall atmosphere ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) election remains peaceful, with voters eagerly awaiting polling day.

Making public a report based on field visits and information collected through its call centres, GEOC concluded that preparations for Thursday’s election have been largely smooth and satisfactory. The report assessed voting arrangements, participation of political parties, inter-agency coordination, potential challenges, the readiness of the Election Commission Nepal, and the overall security situation.

According to GEOC General Secretary Krishna Man Pradhan, the report was prepared following consultations with political parties, voters, candidates, civil society representatives, chief district officers and election officials.

“A free, fair and peaceful environment has been created for tomorrow’s election,” the report states.

Professor Chiranjivi Khanal, mobilised as a national election observer, said all preparations have been completed, polling centres have been established, and security agencies are working in close coordination with a high sense of responsibility.

For the HoR election, GEOC has deployed 400 observers across 250 local levels in 36 districts to monitor the electoral process.
