Nepali Congress President Thapa calls for addressing public discontent and anger through reform

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa asserted that the growing public dissatisfaction and anger must be addressed through reforms.     

Addressing an assembly organized by NC, Kaski at its party office today, the newly elected party president directed the party leaders and cadres to deliver as per their respective responsibility to respond to the dissatisfaction and anger of citizens.

“Public anger runs deep. Public have extreme distrust towards state institutions, the constitution, judiciary, political parties and political leadership. This situation demands answers through reforms,” Thapa suggested.

He further observed, “Public mistrust is rising and frustration is at its peak. We must take into account this reality and steer country forward.”

Against this backdrop, he viewed that the Nepali Congress should emerge as a potent force to lead the country out of this crisis.

Noting that the corruption is the root cause of frustration rife in the country, the leader declared that the Nepali Congress, the biggest crusader against corruption, has entered the electoral race with a renewed commitment to fight corruption.

He further assured that the NC, which once salvaged the country from the vicious cycle of violence, is now prepared to rescue Nepal from the grip of corruption.

Calling on party cadres and leaders to focus on upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives, Thapa urged them to reach every voter’s doorsteps and engage in dialogues and to patiently listen to people’s problems.

“The party has fully entered into election mode by fielding its candidates in all 165 constituencies. We must go to the people with a message that the Nepali Congress is now ready to lead the country and enable reforms. Let us move forward in unison as one party,” he encouraged.

Following the event, President Thapa attended a meeting of the NC, Gandaki Province Committee where he was welcomed by party’s province president Shukra Raj Sharma.

Initiating the meeting, provincial president Sharma stated that the NC now carries an important responsibility to lead the country in line with the aspirations of the people.

He emphasized the need to strengthen the party through the upcoming election and instructed the party cadres and leaders to move ahead with a clear strategy to resolve the nation’s pressing problems.

The meeting was attended by NC provincial committee’s office-bearers, candidates contesting in the upcoming election from Gandaki Province and party’s central committee members.(RSS)
