CIAA files chargesheet against nine for illegally renting school property

KATHMANDU:- The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday lodged a chargesheet at the Special Court against nine people for illegally renting the public property of Rastriya Secondary School to a private school in Kaski district.

CIAA Spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel said that Chairman of School Management Committee Ram Bikram Rana, Committee’s ex-officio and Ward Chairman of Pokhara Metropolitan City-1 Sahara Pradhan and five other members have been accused of taking an unlawful decision to rent the school’s property for 12 years to Anjuli Secondary School, a private school in Pokhara.

The CIAA has also filed the case against the private school’s Principal Sunita Kunwar KC and school’s board of directors Raju KC by concluding their involvement in the decision.

The School Management Committee on March 9, 2024 had decided to rent the school’s property for 12 years in the absence of the member-secretary. The agreement was signed three days after the decision of the School Management Committee.

Earlier, the Education Division of Pokhara Metropolitan City and the Ward Chairman had directed the School Management Committee to scrap the contract by stating that the contract agreement was illegal. (RSS)
