Talks between Gen-Z and local administration begins in Bara, situation returns to normal

BARA:- Talks have begun between representatives of Gen-Z and the local administration at the Armed Police Force headquarters, Rudrabahini, in Pathlaiya.

Eighteen people, including Bara coordinator Samrat Upadhyay from the Gen-Z group, along with Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra and heads of various security agencies, are participating in the discussions on behalf of the local administration, according to Purushottam Bhattarai, Assistant Chief District Officer of Bara.

The situation in Bara had been tense due to conflicts between Gen-Z groups and CPN (UML) cadres in Simara, which led to a two-day curfew imposed by the local administration. The Gen-Z protesters accused the CPN (UML) cadres of assaulting them and demanded action against those responsible. In response, the police arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.

As of this morning, the situation in Bara has largely returned to normal, with transport services fully restored, according to the District Administration.

Meanwhile, individuals injured during the Gen-Z demonstrations on September 8-9 staged a sit-in at Maitighar, Kathmandu, on Friday. The demonstrators called for accountability from those who used force during the protests and for the establishment of justice.

They also emphasized the need to address corruption and promote unity among Gen-Z groups. The protesters clarified that they are not opposed to any specific political party but urged the government to address the concerns of the Gen-Z community.(RSS)
