32 new parties apply for registration with Election Commission

KATHMANDU:-  Thirty-two political parties have submitted applications to the Election Commission (EC) by Sunday, the last day for party registration for the House of Representatives election. 

The parties seeking registration include Ujyalo Nepal Party, Nepal Liberal Party, Communist Party Nepal, Janayug Party, Hamro Party Nepal, Nepal Rastriya Yuva Party, Rastriya Urjasheel Party, Sundar Nepal Nirman Party, Pragatisheel Nagarik Party, Nagarik Sarbochhata Party Nepal, Rastriya Janamat Party, Nepal Communist Party (Leftist Centre), Awaj Party, Sarbabhauma Nagarik Party, Nagarik Bachau Daal, Rastra Nirman Dal Nepal, among others.

Other applicants include Janadesh Party Nepal, People Front Party, Nepali Pratham Party, Janata Liktantrik Party, Rastriya Swabhiman Party Nepal, Samabeshi Samajwadi Party, Rastriya Gaurav Party, Eakata Nepal, Nawanirman Party, Sarbodaya Party, Swabhiman Party, Rastriya Sanatan Party Nepal, Samunnat Nepal Party, Janaadhikar Party, New Nationalist Party, and Udhar Loktantrik Party.

However, many of these parties have not yet received their registration certificates, mainly due to incomplete documentation.

The EC has decided to give them additional time. So far, seven new parties have successfully obtained their registration certificates.

According to the EC, a total of 125 political parties have already received their certificates. The Commission had previously clarified that only parties with certificates would be eligible to contest the upcoming elections.

Acting Chief Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari informed that the parties submitting applications by Sunday would remain in the registration process. If they receive their certificates by November 26, they will be able to register for election purposes, he added.

The EC has issued a notification stating that party registration for election purposes will take place from November 17 to 26, with the process beginning on Monday.
