500 houses in Saptari submerged due to rain and floods

SAPTARI:- More than 2,000 families have been affected after 500 houses were inundated by floods caused by continuous rainfall in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality and Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality of the district.
Approximately 2,000 people have been affected after floodwaters entered settlements in Wards 5, 7, 12, and 13 of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality—submerging 483 houses—and Wards 4 and 5 of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, where 17 houses were inundated. Birendra Majhi, Mayor of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, stated that the water entered the settlements following a rise in the water level of the Saptakoshi River on Friday night.
He said, “Although arrangements have been made to provide two meals a day—morning and evening—to those affected by the flood, additional relief materials will be distributed once the water level recedes and the victims are identified.”
