38 injured in Kapilvastu bus accident

KAPILVASTU:- Thirty-eight people were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident on the Taulihawa-Bahadurganj Hulaki road section in Baraipur, Maharajgunj Municipality-4, Kapilvastu district on Tuesday morning.

The bus (Karnali Province 02-001 Kha 1266) was heading towards Surkhet from Kathmandu when it lost control and overturned on the road at around 3:55 am.

The injured were rescued after the accident and treated at the District Hospital Kapilvastu and referred to Bhairahawa for further treatment, police said. Of the injured, two are in critical condition, 19 are in moderate condition and 17 are in normal condition.

The bus driver, Dilli Prasad Dahal, 30, of Surkhet, and co-driver Rajan Budha, along with passengers, were injured. The seriously injured include Pavitra Devkota, 45, of Bardiya, and Prakash BK, 30, of Surkhet.

According to the police, 12 of the injured were taken to the hospital in a police vehicle and the others in an ambulance. Later, all the injured were sent to Bhairahawa for further treatment, said Rajan Dhakal, Police Inspector of the District Traffic Police Office, Kapilvastu. The police said that further investigation is underway into the cause of the accident.
