Over 3,000 disaster survivor families receive temporary housing grants in Kavre

BANEPA:- The government has provided first tranche of funds for the construction of temporary housing for the victims of last year’s disaster in the district.

A relief amount of Rs 7.79 million has been provided to 3,128 disaster survivors as the first installment in 13 local governments of the district.

Around Rs 40 million released to the office account for the second installment has largely remained unclaimed by most local governments.

As reported, only two governments have requested the second installment from the office and distributed it to the survivors.

According to Deputy Chief District Officer Sudarshan Shrestha, so far, Bethanchok and Roshi Rural Municipalities have taken the second installment.

The government had prepared a procedure to provide Rs 50,000 per household for temporary housing construction, with Rs 25,000 in the first installment and equal amount in the second installment.

The office informed that Bethanchok has allocated Rs 19.6 million and Roshi Rural Municipality Rs 46.1 million.
