‘Under the leadership of Gagan Thapa, Congress will once again become the country’s undisputed power’

BUTWAL:- Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand has come out in support of Gagan Thapa for the party presidency. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Butwal City Committee convention—held as part of the Congress’s 15th General Convention—he stated that Thapa would once again become the party president.

Addressing the recent wave of transformation within the party, Leader Khand remarked that the leadership of the Congress has naturally shifted to the shoulders of the youth, a journey that will not be halted. He asserted that Gagan Thapa would be re-elected as party president at the upcoming 15th General Convention.

Commending the courage of the new generation stepping forward to steer the party, he said, “I extend my best wishes to all the young leaders and cadres who have come forward to take responsibility, declaring that they will now lead the party.”

He expressed confidence that the Nepali people and grassroots cadres would fully support the transformation of the Congress party and its youth leadership this time around.

Leader Khand asserted that, through dynamic leadership, clear policies, and robust internal unity, the Congress would once again become the nation’s undisputed and most trusted political force under the leadership of Gagan Thapa.

He maintained that the Congress has historically been a party of the youth. Khand remarked that only those who fail to grasp the party’s true history and its formative process label it a party of the elderly.

Recalling the Congress party’s glorious past, leader Khand highlighted that the very foundation of the party was built upon the ideological and revolutionary movements of energetic youth.

He stated, “B.P. Koirala, the founding leader of the Congress, was only 36 years old when he became the country’s Home Minister, while Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was a young man of just 25 when he became the first Speaker of Parliament.”

Khand claimed that although elderly leaders have appeared in leadership roles during certain periods of history, the party’s organizational life and grassroots level have always been dominated by a majority and decisive presence of youth.
