20th Asian Games: Sherpa wins first medal for Nepal

KATHMANDU:- Tenzing Sherpa has won the first medal for Nepal in karate in the 20th Asian Games taking place in Japan.     

This is Sherpa’s first medal in the 20th Asian Games though he had competed in different categories. In today’s match held at Toyahashi Gymnasium in Japan, Karate player Sherpa won bronze medal in the Men’s Kumite in the over 84-kg category.

He defeated Laos’s player Vathana 9-1 and won the bronze medal. Earlier, Sherpa lost 5-0 to Iran’s player Muhammad Nemati in the semi-final.(RSS)
