Possibility of rain in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces
KATHMANDU:- The country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has reported that the monsoon low-pressure trough is currently situated near its average position.
At present, the mountainous and hilly regions of the country are generally cloudy. There is partial cloud cover in the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces, while the weather remains mainly clear in the Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Division has reported light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places across Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces.
According to the department, generally cloudy conditions are expected this afternoon in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in the country’s mountainous and hilly regions, while the Terai regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces will experience partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places across the country’s mountainous and hilly regions. Additionally, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some areas of Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as in one or two locations within the Terai regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Similarly, the weather across the country will be generally cloudy tonight. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in some places within the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in parts of the mountainous and hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Additionally, there is a chance of light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in some locations across the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in one or two places within Madhesh Province.
The Division has urged residents in the affected areas to exercise necessary caution, as heavy rainfall could increase the risk of debris flow, floods, landslides, and soil erosion. Vigilance is advised because daily life, agriculture, healthcare services, tourism, mountaineering, as well as road and air transport services, could be disrupted.
