Nepali Congress will continue to hold the government to account: President Thapa

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that NC is playing the role of the main opposition party by holding the government to account.

Addressing the central committee meeting that began today at the party’s central office, Thapa said that when it comes to national issues, where collaboration with the government is required, the main opposition party will be the first to come forward. “However, as the opposition party, it is also our responsibility to question the government,” he said.

It was taking this fact into consideration that we have rejected a provincial government without an opposition. President Thapa said that the special general convention of the party was held in accordance with the statute of the party.

Some party friends expressing complete disagreement with the process and outcome of the general convention now re-entering the court will further clarify it. He also said that in order to make the upcoming 15th general convention free and fair, respect for elders will be ensured and equal rights will be granted to all.

Thapa emphasized that the party should be united by combining the old and new generations as well as all groups remaining committed to the party symbol of tree.
