Possibility of moderate rain accompanied by lightning in many places across the country’s hilly regions and Madhesh
KATHMANDU:- The influence of monsoon winds continues across the country on Tuesday. Currently, the monsoon low-pressure trough is positioned slightly north of its normal location, near Nepal’s Terai region. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that cloudy conditions will prevail nationwide due to the ongoing influence of the monsoon winds.
According to the department, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall in some places in the Himalayan region, while light to moderate rain is forecast for many areas in the hilly region and some parts of the Terai. The department has stated that moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many places across the country’s hilly regions, as well as in some areas of the Terai.
According to the statement issued by the department, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places across the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The weather is forecast to remain generally to completely cloudy across the country tonight. The department has indicated a likelihood of light to moderate rain or snowfall in some areas of the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places within the mountainous regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning in many places across the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in Madhesh Province; similarly, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in some places across the hilly regions of Karnali Province and the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpaschim Province.
The department has stated that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in one or two places within Madhesh Province.
The Department has urged people to exercise caution in areas prone to heavy rainfall, keeping in mind the risks associated with debris flow, floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
It has also requested the public to stay regularly updated with the latest weather bulletins, as adverse weather conditions could impact daily life, agriculture, healthcare services, tourism, mountaineering, as well as road and air transportation.
