US deports 2,273 undocumented Indian immigrants by the end of July

"The total number of Indians sent back from the United States between January and July 2026 is 2,273. In 2025, a total of 3,567 Indian citizens were deported from the United States."

NEW DELHI:- According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, 2,273 Indian citizens were deported from the United States by the end of July 2026.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs stated, “The total number of Indians sent back from the United States between January and July 2026 is 2,273. In 2025, a total of 3,567 Indian citizens were deported from the United States.”

The spokesperson said, “We continue to work with many foreign governments on deportation cases. Whenever such cases are referred to us, we conduct due diligence to verify the nationality of the individual recommended for deportation. Only after we are fully satisfied that the person holds Indian citizenship do we facilitate their travel or return to India.”
He said that the government is committed to promoting legal pathways for migration.
