UAE entry rules changed for Indians with UK residency permits

UAE:- Immigration policies regarding the entry of Indian travelers into the UAE are set to change. A revised framework has been prepared for the UAE’s visa-on-arrival policy for Indian nationals. The updated immigration policy affects eligibility criteria linked to visas and residence permits from third countries.

A new immigration policy has been introduced in accordance with guidelines issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). However, officials have not yet announced the implementation date; the rules are expected to come into effect once internal systems have been updated.

The change in UAE immigration policy affects Indian passport holders who rely solely on a UK residence visa. Under the revised UAE visa-on-arrival policy for Indians, this category will no longer be eligible for the 14-day visa-on-arrival option. This is a targeted adjustment focused on tightening eligibility criteria.

The UAE’s new immigration regulations affect specific documentation pathways. These updated rules will alter travel patterns. Many frequent visitors had been using UK residence visas to facilitate their entry.

The UAE has not completely removed visa-on-arrival access for Indian citizens. This facility will remain available for those holding a valid US visitor visa or US Green Card, as well as those with a valid European visitor visa or European residence permit.

These travelers can still enter under the 14-day visa-on-arrival scheme. In many cases, the stay can be extended by another 14 days under current practice. The UAE’s visa-on-arrival policy for Indian nationals is contingent upon holding valid residency or a visa from a third country (such as the US, UK, or EU).

However, the UAE has stated that a proposed 60-day visa-on-arrival facility for eligible Indian travelers is currently under evaluation. This may follow eligibility criteria similar to the existing short-stay system. No official launch date has been announced.

Despite changes in immigration policies, the UAE has continued to adopt a convenient and attractive visa policy targeting Indian travelers. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are major tourism and business hubs. The UAE’s visa-on-arrival policy remains convenient and favorable for Indians, while holders of US and EU visas continue to benefit from simplified entry procedures.
