Heavy rain likely, urges caution
KATHMANDU:- The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people to be on high alert as there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the division, moderate to heavy rainfall is currently occurring in some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and a few places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Division has stated that monsoon activity has become more active as the flow of water vapor-rich air in Nepal has gradually increased due to the low-pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal.
According to the Division, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall with lightning at a few places in the hilly and terai areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces today and tomorrow. It has been predicted that there may be very heavy rainfall at one or two places in those provinces.
The division has urged the public to take necessary precautions as the risk of soil erosion, flooding and landslides may increase due to heavy rains. The department has also requested the general public living in coastal areas and vulnerable areas to take special precautions as there may be inundation in urban and Terai areas and water levels in large and small rivers, streams and drains may rise.
