Public Relations Committee UK General Assembly in August

LONDON:-  Nepali Congress’s well-wisher organization, Nepali Jana Samparka Samiti UK, has announced that it has distributed active membership to 527 people. According to committee chairman Yubaraj Gurung, the final list of active members has been prepared based on the details received through the central online system.

President Gurung informed that preparations are underway to hold a convention of the Public Relations Committee of the UK in the last week of August as per the central directives of the Nepali Congress. He said that preparations for the convention have been intensified with the completion of the distribution of membership.

Gurung said that in addition to active membership, general membership will also be distributed for the general convention, as per the legal provisions that allow members of the Nepali Public Relations Committee to participate in the general convention.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress Central Office has issued detailed instructions regarding active membership. According to the party, the active membership renewal, update and new membership distribution process has been managed through an online system. Public relations committees based abroad have been instructed to send the list of members in both excel sheet and PDF formats.

According to the central circular, while distributing and renewing active membership, the public relations committee of the concerned country should send the list only after getting approval from its working committee. It has been mentioned that the details of the members must include the active membership number, address, guardian’s name and contact details.

Similarly, there are clear provisions regarding membership fees. Different fees have been set for different countries. A low fee has been set for SAARC countries, while a fee of up to US$30 has been set for countries including Europe, America, Canada, Australia. Similarly, separate fees have been set for the Middle East and other countries.

The prescribed fee will be charged for new active memberships, while only half of the fee will be charged for renewals. In addition, a provision has been made that 50 percent of the collected amount by public relations committees should be sent to the center and the remaining 50 percent can be managed locally.

The central office has emphasized on making the active membership distribution process transparent, systematic and technology-friendly. It has also directed to complete the necessary procedures for the convention by sending all the details within the specified time limit.

With the distribution of active memberships completed, UK-based Nepali Congress activists are now preparing to elect a new leadership through a convention. The convention is expected to set the future course of action and further strengthen the organization.
