People’s Choice ‘Lifetime Award’ goes to Singer Ramkrishna Duwal

KATHMANDU:- The ‘Page Three People’s Choice Awards-1146’ have been held with the aim of promoting Nepali language films, music and music videos. This is the fifth edition of this award, which has been presented by the fortnightly magazine Page Three for the past 16 years.

At the award ceremony, senior singer and researcher Ram Krishna Duwal of Kirtipur, who has made a lifelong contribution to the Nepali language music sector, was honored with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. Chief guest, member of parliament Kulbhakta Shakya, informed that the Intangible Heritage Bill covering the cultural aspect has been passed by the federal parliament and said that such awards will add energy to the protection of art and culture.

Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC expressed his belief that organizing the awards would help promote Nepali language creations at the national and international levels. In the program chaired by Elohan Publications Managing Director Naresh Bir Shakya, award director Darshan Bir Shakya said that it was possible to bring new and old generation artists on the same stage through voting.

In the film category, ‘Lakhe Aaju’ won the best film award, while Surendra Tuladhar was named best director and Ashishma Nakami was named best actress. Suraj Byanjanakar received the best male artist award. Mathura Maharjan (male) and Kavita Joshi (female) were declared best singers in the music category. ‘Yenya Punhi’ was declared best in the music video category.

On the occasion, various music video and film artists were awarded jury mentions and honors.

The makers of the video films ‘Nipaa Khwapa’, ‘Chipnip’, ‘Charitra’ and ‘Nhilaa Nhilaa Hoon’ were honored at the award ceremony. The Nepali language song ‘Ayala…Ayala…Ayala…’ and the animation film Jai Lakhe were awarded the Jury Mention Award, while Japanese resident Karen Shakya was awarded the Page Three Hapaa Award and musician Jugal Dangol was awarded the Page Three Samman.
