RSP President Lamichhane in New Delhi, high-level meeting underway today

KATHMANDU:- Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane arrived in New Delhi, India on Monday on a five-day official visit.

Lamichhane, who arrived in India at the invitation of the Indian ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was welcomed by BJP General Secretary Arun Singh and Foreign Department Chief Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwa at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

In New Delhi, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Lamichhane and the RSS delegation are scheduled to hold high-level political meetings with the leadership of India’s ruling BJP and also visit Ayodhya. Both the BJP and the RSS have described the visit as the ‘beginning of formal party-to-party dialogue’ and have said that they view it with great importance.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has informed that President Lamichhane is scheduled to hold high-level political and diplomatic meetings with the top leadership of the BJP in New Delhi, and that the meeting will exchange views on organizational practices, democratic processes, and people-oriented political outreach between the two parties.

According to RSP spokesperson Manish Jha, a delegation including President Lamichhane will hold high-level political and diplomatic meetings in New Delhi during his visit to India from (18 to 22 Jestha), June 1- 5, 2026.

The BJP has also stated that the meeting with the president of Nepal’s ruling party, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), will strengthen the prospects of formal dialogue and future cooperation between the political parties of the two countries.

A statement issued by BJP’s foreign department chief Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale said that during the visit, the delegation will meet senior party leaders, including BJP national president Nitin Naveen, in New Delhi.

The purpose of the visit is to expand party-to-party relations between the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP), as well as to discuss organizational practices, democratic processes and people-oriented political outreach, the BJP has stated. Along with President Lamichhane, the RSS delegation includes General Secretary and MP Bipin Kumar Acharya, Secretariat members and MPs Deepak Bohara, Nikita Poudel and Pradeep Acharya. It is said that President Lamichhane will also meet the Nepali community in India during the visit.

This direct dialogue between the two major ruling political parties of Nepal and India is expected to add a new dimension to party relations and regional political cooperation in the future. The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi is coordinating the meetings, discussions and visits, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) said.
