Nepal targets Chinese market with tourism promotion programme in Guangzhou

KATHMANDU:- Nepal has stepped up efforts to attract more Chinese tourists through a tourism promotion programme held in Guangzhou, China, under the theme “Nepal: Lifetime Experiences!”

Organized by the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou on Wednesday, the event brought together tourism professionals, travel entrepreneurs, industry leaders and media representatives to promote Nepal as a major travel and wellness destination.

Speaking at the programme, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou, Bharat Khanal, highlighted the long-standing cultural ties between Nepal and China and invited Chinese travelers to explore Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and adventure tourism opportunities.

The event featured a cinematic presentation showcasing Nepal’s Himalayan landscapes, heritage sites and tourism experiences.

Vice President of the Shenzhen Tourism Association and Executive President of the Shenzhen Travel Agency Industry Association, Wang Tao, said Shenzhen’s travel industry remained committed to promoting Nepal as an important outbound tourism destination for Chinese travelers.

A traditional Nepali dance performance was also presented, reflecting Nepal’s cultural richness.

Senior Manager at the Nepal Tourism Board, Bimal Sharma Kandel, delivered a presentation on Nepal’s tourism sector, highlighting emerging destinations, adventure tourism, heritage attractions and sustainable tourism initiatives.

The programme also featured a wellness segment titled “Yoga and Wellness in Nepal,” led by Dr. Prakash Acharya, focusing on Nepal’s growing potential as a wellness and spiritual tourism destination.

A business-to-business matchmaking session was held between Nepali and Chinese tourism stakeholders to strengthen cooperation and expand tourism partnerships.
