Heavy rainfall recorded in Chitwan, Gorkha, Udayapur districts

KATHMANDU:- A heavy rainfall was recorded in Chitwan, Gorkha and Udayapur districts today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The Department stated that Udayapur witnessed the highest rainfall with 82.2 millimetres in the past three hours. Likewise, Gorkha recorded 80 millimetres of rainfall, while Chitwan recorded 60 millimetres.

The downpour was recorded at Katari in Udayapur and Barpak in Gorkha. Rainfall of more than 50 millimetres in a period of 24 hours is categorised as heavy rain.

The Department has indicated that other regions are also experiencing rainfall. Likewise, rainfall occurred in the districts of Lamjung, Makawanpur, Sindhupalchowk, Sankhuwasabha, Ilam, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Bardiya and Kaski.

Department’s Information Officer Dinkar Kayastha stated that the level of pollution in the atmosphere is likely to reduce following the rainfall today. RSS
