Bushra Amiwala Condemns Rep. Randy Fine’s Islamophobic Words

SKOKIE, Ill.:- Congressional candidate Bushra Amiwala forcefully condemned a diatribe of Islamophobic rhetoric from Rep. Randy Fine (FL-R-06) that began on Monday and continued into Tuesday morning.

“If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one,” Rep. Fine posted on social media.

Elected Skokie School Board member Bushra Amiwala released the following statement:

“An entire generation of Muslim Americans grew up in the shadow of 9/11. Navigating suspicion and surveillance. Questioned. Told to prove they belonged amid open Islamophobia. And still they believed in this country.”

“Now, in 2026, on the eve of Ramadan, their children are hearing that same hatred echoed from Washington. I am running for Congress out of love. Love for my district. Love for my country. Because this country is strongest when it lives up to its ideals, not when it abandons them.”

“My story is proof of what is possible when we choose dignity over fear. No one who speaks this way is fit to hold power. Anywhere.”
